I would like to share with you some information about a new ministry that my brother and I have started on Biblical Astronomy, called David Rives Ministries.
The purpose and intent of our ministry is to let people know that God is alive and real through the message of Creation.
We are told in the book of Psalms that:“The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth His handywork.”
I begin by conducting a PowerPoint presentation on the subjectAs a part of the ministry, I have what we call “Mobile Observatory”It is based upon a Meade 16” telescope (used by many major observatories around the globe).
We have a trailer with a special suspension system that will transport the telescope safely anywhere roads can go.Our goal is to present the majesty of the heavens to churches worldwide. By way of a highly sensitive astronomical imaging system, which is capable of accumulating light, we are able to project live images of faint deep sky objects onto a giant outdoor screen, which could never be seen by simply looking through the eyepiece alone.
To start off I will present a 45 minute presentation , that will provide the audience with facts about astronomy that will show them just how special the Earth is and how we cannot even imagine how vast these things that our Creator has placed in the heavens for us to view really are. Afterward if weather permits the presentation will then move outdoors with the live telescope views.We are very excited about getting the word out, so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to spread the word, they would be greatly appreciated.
